Just to give you an idea …
in 2016 figures, it costs about:
$100 to plow the ice each time,
$50 to buff the ice,
$20 to snow blow the lower level,
$20 for heat & light for a day,
$30 if paying for cleaning bathrooms, etc., gas in tractor & snow blower.
Then finding 8 volunteers to hand out hot chocolate & check out rental skates. If at night, costs about $50 per hour to run ball diamond lights. Plus insurance & putting new coat of water on ice if snow crusts in to it & costs for 4 people to put water out with 1000 feet of fire hose to top off the ice.
